JoAnn Thompson Franklin | Physiotherapist & Owner

JoAnn has been practicing physiotherapy in the Greater Moncton area for more than 30 years. After graduating from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy, she worked in both hospitals and private clinics before establishing Tidewater Physiotherapy as a home business in 1999. In 2007, she expanded her practice by opening the doors of our current facility. Along with additional training in craniosacral therapy, custom orthotics acupuncture, and hippotherapy, JoAnn has a special interest in women’s health and treating urinary incontinence. She also helped found Cavalier Riding Club, a local therapeutic riding program for disabled children and adults.

Alana Mallett | Physiotherapist

Alana completed her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of New Brunswick Saint John (Biology Psychology) in 2013 and her Master of Science degree of Physiotherapy at Dalhousie University in 2017. During her physiotherapy degree Alana gained valuable experience treating orthopedic injuries in a private setting, neurorehabilitation, geriatrics and pediatrics orthopedics.

Alana joined Tidewater Physiotherapy in 2017 and has enjoyed treating various orthopaedic conditions of various age groups. She believes in using a team approach while working with a patient to help them achieve their goals. Her treatment methods include manual therapy, education, and an exercise program specific to the patient’s individual needs.

Alana is dedicated to her profession and believes post graduate courses are a necessity to ensure her patients receive the best treatment. She has completed additional post graduate courses in acupuncture, taping, movement impairment, and an advanced course in the assessment and treatment of the shoulder, elbow, and wrist.

In her spare time, Alana has a passion for sports. She has played on several competitive soccer teams including university soccer. She continues to stay active while playing soccer and has recently started running.


Jennifer Grant | Registered Massage Therapist

Jennifer graduated from Eastern College in 2012 and joined the Tidewater team in April 2016. She offers therapeutic massages, deep tissue massages, pregnancy massages, TMJ (temporomandibular joint) treatment, sports massages and chair massages. Jennifer has three children, and when she’s not working can usually be found at one of their sports events or school activities. She loves helping others and is a regular blood donor.

Lorelie Knowlton | Registered Massage Therapist

After graduating from ICT School Moncton campus in 2013, Laura spent her first year practising in a spa setting before transitioning to a clinical atmosphere.  Her unique background allows her to meet her clients’ needs through a blend of relaxation and therapeutic massage, and she strongly advocates strong communication between therapist and client. Her areas of study include but are not limited to Swedish and deep tissue massage, repetitive motion injury rehabilitation, cupping, reflexology, migraine relief and prevention, pregnancy, myofascial and trigger point release and Indian scalp massage.

Michael Bunnett | Registered Massage Therapist

Michael grew up with many aches and pains, poor posture and severe migraine headaches. He didn’t find relief until he had gone to several physical therapies. He now wants to help those who live in pain. Michael graduated from the 2200 hour Massage Therapy course at Eastern College in Moncton NB, in 2015. He is a member and in good standing with the Association of Massage Therapist of New Brunswick as well as the College of Massage Therapist of New Brunswick. He is always staying up to date with First Aid and CPR certifications. Michael likes to use a variety of techniques that range from light, to deep tissue, trigger point work and many in-between, that best suit the individual client’s needs. He believes that therapy is a team effort, and educates his clients with the information they need to succeed in their recovery. Michael has completed a MyoFascial Integration course (Level 1 & 2), Cupping Therapy, and a Hot/Cold Stone therapy course. He is also a practitioner of Bowen Therapy and the Voila Method.

Shiajan Constantine | Physiotherapist

Shiajan graduated from Dalhousie University with her Master of Science, Physiotherapy degree in October 2015. During her Physiotherapy degree she participated in recreational sports while also raising a family with two young boys. Shiajan gained experience and knowledge in more complicated musculoskeletal conditions, orthopaedic injuries and neurorehabilitation (spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, stroke, traumatic brain injuries). She has experience with paediatric neurorehabilitation (Infant/toddler gross motor assessment and milestones, NICU, cerebral palsy, torticollis and plagiocephaly) having spent a clinical placement at the Moncton hospital. She also has experience with extramural physiotherapy in home and school consultations with paediatrics and geriatrics.

Since graduating with her Masters degree, Shiajan began working for Aspire special needs resource centre – a non profit organization educating and treating paediatrics with special needs (Ages 3-8 diagnosed with conditions such as: CP, TBI, Down syndrome, Spinae bifida, and Autism). She collaborated inter-professionally daily with a team of therapists on site (OT, SLP,Psyc,TAs and teachers) in schools and in homes with her patients. Her special interests in paediatric prevention/ orthopaedics/ special needs and treatment have led her to pursue post graduate education in these areas. She took a maternity leave position working in a private clinic at Advanced Health and Physiotherapy in 2017/2018. Additionally she currently holds certificates in neuro-proprioceptive taping (K taping). She plans to continue her postgraduate education by pursuing acupuncture courses, continuing taping levels with specific conditions and paediatrics courses.
